Description: The film is based on a novel by its director, entitled The Comedy of Mythomania. In the spring of 1999, during the intense NATO bombardment in Kosovo, a ship has been placed in quarantine in a certain harbor of the Balkan peninsula. Yuri, a Greek from Trebezon and former treasurer of the Communist party, and Antigoni, an orphan girl who grew up with him, meet a Greek-American woman from Minnesota, Kalliopi Komnini, who has spent half of her life in prison. They also meet the best student of the great psychoanalyst Carl Jung, Elena Fenter, who is accompanied by her Italian lover Fenterico. Kalliopi gives a detailed account of her life as well as her affair with a maniac killer of couples, Joe, who began his macabre career with the murder of her parents, finally ending up in the electric chair. Elena also tells her own story: she refers to her grandmother, a grand lady of Trebezon, who was involved with a Jew from Constantinople. At the same time, however, the Tsar fell in love with her and invited her to St. Petersburg. Fenterico is flirting with Antigoni, while Aisopos – an alcoholic bum who likes to tell stories involving animals and make comments on everything – is suddenly murdered by two magicians. Yuri reveals that Elena is his former lover (and Antigoni’s mother), who deserted him in order to settle in Austria. Then Yuri goes into a coma, and, with the end of the quarantine, they take him away on a stretcher. Fenterico commits suicide a little before his disembarkation, and Antigoni goes off with Kalliopi. A journalist arrives at the dock with the expectation of meeting his “spiritual father’, but he has already disembarked.
